Resource Mobilization and the Performance of Road Projects Under the Kenya National Highway Authority in Turkana County, Kenya

Project scheduling practices are fundamental to the successful execution and completion of projects, particularly in the dynamic and demanding environment of road construction under the Kenya National Highway Authority in Turkana County, Kenya. This study aimed to examine the influence of resource mobilization and the performance of road projects under the Kenya National Highway Authority in Turkana County, Kenya. The study was guided by Resource Dependency Theory. A descriptive research design and mixed methods approach were used in the current study. Quantitative data were collected through a questionnaire, while qualitative data were collected through interviews. Quantitative data were analysed using SPSS version 26 with measures of central tendency and dispersion. Qualitative data were analysed thematically. Findings revealed that, effective resource allocation contributes to the overall performance of road construction projects and had an average score of 3.46 and a standard deviation of 1.40. Also, resource allocation is often constrained by budget limitations and this leads to some road construction projects remaining unfinished, while others often face significant delays in Turkana County. The study concludes that, proper resource allocation enhances project performance. The study recommends to project planners to ensure that adequate and realistic allocation of resources be done to each project activity in Turkana County under the Kenya National Highway Authority Key Words: Resource Mobilization; Performance; Road Projects; Road Construction; Kenya National Highway Authority
